Beach and pool season are just around the corner. If diet and exercise haven’t given you a beach body you’re excited about, imagine what The Center for Plastic Surgery in Colorado Springs can do to help.
A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. However, sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals.
Even individuals of otherwise normal body weight and proportion can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging. The most common causes of this include: pregnancy, aging, significant fluctuations in weight, and heredity.
A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), removes excess fat and skin, and in most cases restores weakened or separated muscles for a smoother, firmer abdomen.
Keep in mind that tummy tucks are not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. And, it will not correct stretch marks, although these may be removed or somewhat improved if they are located on the areas of excess skin that will be excised, generally the treated areas below the belly button.
Although a relatively long scar results, the scar can be placed low allowing for styles such as hip-hugger pants/skirts and bikinis. If only slight to moderate laxity is present, Dr. Bland can perform a mini abdominoplasty, which limits the length of the scar, may be indicated.
General Operative Time: 1 1/2 to 3 hours

While some slight risks may occur, most individuals are able to return to normal activities after about two weeks. However, it’s generally 1 – 2 months for your body to return to its full energetic condition.
